The Ulti-Melt Cheddar Onion Burger
Ingredients
- 1 Lb. Lean Ground Beef (90% lean or leaner)
- 1 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Onion, thinly sliced
- 1 C. Sliced Mushrooms
- 1 C. Diced Red Bell Peppers
- 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 4 Whole Wheat Burger Buns
- 4 Slices Borden® Extra Sharp Cheddar Melts
- 1 Tomato, sliced
- Handful of Lettuce Leaves
- 4 Tbsp. Sriracha Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions, mushrooms, and red pepper, sauté until caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Place burger patties on the preheated grill and cook for 3 to 5 minutes on each side, until cooked to 160F. Remove from heat and top each patty with one slice of Cheddar Melts.
- While patties are cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill.
- To assemble the burgers, spread the inside of the buns with the Sriracha mayonnaise. Layer lettuce on the bun bottoms. Top with a slice of tomato, 1 burger patty, caramelized onions, and mushrooms.
- Place the top half of the bun over the toppings and serve immediately.
